No goal is achieved alone, and even if it were possible, why would you want to do it by yourself? The value lies in the journey, not the destination. It’s the memories created and the lessons learned along the way that make reaching the destination worthwhile. Few understand this quite like the production powerhouse known as Petro Gang. This group has earned its success through brotherhood, a strong work ethic, and a shared desire for everyone to win.

I first encountered the name "Petro Gang" while interning as an engineer at my first studio back in 2020. Almost every artist I recorded used a "Petro Gang type beat" or something similar; everyone wanted that sound! Being around them now has allowed me to see how they operate and understand why a drill song from this specific area isn't complete without the "This is Petro Gang" tag in the intro. Big Boss Butta has not only innovated the sound that we are known for but has also demonstrated that the DMV can move beyond the "crabs in a barrel" mentality often associated with our creative community.

This year, they secured several collaborations with artists such as Nast B, long-time collaborator No Savage, Nino Paid, and Gizwop, among many other prominent figures from the DMV area. This region is known for producing legends like The Neptunes, Timbaland, and Missy Elliott, and Petro Gang is carrying on that tradition. I don't need to say much; you know the tag, and soon you'll know each of the 40-plus producers advancing the DMV sound. Petro Gang has a stronghold on the DMV, and soon the world will join the movement.
