The influence of celebrity culture is stronger today than ever before. Many people gain immense attention—often undeservedly—for things that hold little to no real impact or value. The phrase "No one is special if everyone is special" captures the essence of this decade, yet few are willing to be the black sheep. On the positive side, this trend allows individuals and artists with meaningful messages to shine even brighter. The noise of superficiality is irrelevant to them; they coexist and separate themselves by offering the masses a glimpse of the past—something real that others can see, listen to, or feel. This is Nast B.
I examine our icons and reflect on what made them great. Why are they held in such high regard, and what do they all have in common? Regardless of their field, everyone we consider "great" was simply the first to do something. They were often criticized, belittled, and sometimes shunned for seeing the world differently than those around them—oftentimes envisioning a better world than what was presented to them. During my time in the RDI camp, I can confidently say that Nast has demonstrated nothing less than pioneering traits. In the past year and a half, he has independently sold out five shows, released a self-funded debut album, and produced multiple self-funded EPs. He has also created a series of clever brand collaborations for YouTube and established a thriving recording studio in his hometown. The list of his accomplishments goes on. Through it all, I don't believe he's gotten the credit for what he's doing for his people, but that's how all icons started.
On August 22nd, Nast, I, and our team will be presenting our biggest show yet. This is significant not just because of the critical acclaim it may bring, but because it all originated from a single thought to do something different. I now realize that Nast could have taken shortcuts, worn a mask to get close to higher-profile artists, and compromised himself in more ways than one. However, he has chosen—and continues to choose—the road less traveled. This is why he continues to succeed.
Get your tickets for Nast B's first headline show on August 22nd, in partnership with Live Nation and Mac Agency. One thing I can say about Nast is that he truly cares for his fans, just as they care for him. Expect nothing but an incredible show on Friday night!
