"You can make excuses or you can make progress. You choose." — Brian Tracy

There are countless ways to succeed, but also many reasons not to. The root of inaction is often fear—fear of embarrassment, fear of failure, and so on. Fear usually stems from the unknown—whether it's something you've never done or a place you've never been. This reaction is completely normal. However, suppose you want to become someone the world has yet to meet, explore places it has never seen, engage in activities it has never tried, and contribute in ways it has not experienced. In that case, you must look beyond your instinct to play it safe and be willing to take risks.

Excuses are plentiful and often seem reasonable; many of our justifications for not taking action appear logical. Keep in mind that we are not in an industry that rewards rationality or logic. Instead, we operate in a realm that recognizes the brilliance in ideas that challenge conventional thinking and surpass what currently exists. If you give in to every obstacle that stands in your way, the likelihood of becoming the person you believe you are meant to be is extremely low.

You might blame your lack of money for not being able to produce quality content, your limited network for not being able to collaborate, or your DIY mentality for feeling stuck at your current level. Honestly, that's all just an excuse! Don't you realize that everyone you admire has faced challenges—many of them far more discouraging than your situation?

No amount of what you believe you lack will aid a defeatist mindset.

Reach into the darkness and figure it out as the artists did before you or settle for the options shown to you in the light and spend the rest of your life wondering what could have been if you only stopped making excuses.
