"If you want to survive the zombie apocalypse, you need to focus on increasing your stamina."

Every day, an average of around 120,000 new songs are uploaded. You might ask, how then should artists go about cutting through the noise, standing out, being heard, or competing with others who want to survive? In my opinion, they shouldn't compete at all. Navigating through the noise is pointless; it forces you to choose between conforming to trends in hopes of gaining recognition or waiting for someone to discover you like a diamond in the rough. Choosing either does nothing but place your power to succeed in someone else's hands. So, don't choose. Instead, increase your stamina, trust that what you have can outlast what is popular in the moment, and sooner or later, someone will connect with what you have to say.
"Zombies"—people who care little for the art and only want to be associated with what's currently cool is our biggest challenge as modern-day creatives. What makes us unique may not always appeal to the masses, suggesting there is a limit to the size of our audience. But how credible are the masses if they only support what those around them support? This zombie-like behavior can make them seem mindless, following the crowd without thinking for themselves. Whether big or small, wouldn't you prefer to have a group of people who truly understand you, your story, and your message? To find and attract them, you need not only confidence in your abilities but also the energy to stay creative, put yourself out there, and wait your turn.
A music career only makes sense when it aligns with your purpose; this is true for every industry. If you're in it for the wrong reasons, it will break you down, and you will quit eventually. No amount of energy is enough for work that has nothing to do with why you're on earth. To survive the zombie apocalypse—filled with surface-level artists and their tolerators—you don't need to run fast, just patient, confident, and farther than the rest.
