Every group has an operator whether they're known or not. In most organizations, it'll be whoever bridges long-term goals with day-to-day functions. Someone who maintains seemingly insignificant tasks that allow everyone else to do their jobs efficiently. Kel is that bridge for our studio and trust me when I say DMS doesn't reach the other side without him.
Emotional intelligence is a non-negotiable when building a successful business. Bring creatives into the mix and you're now not only responsible for your reactions but the volatile feelings of others. In the moment when chaos finds its way into the room, I think about how Kel would handle the situation. He understands that emotions are transitory, not a person's identity, and focuses his attention on restoring the balance. A mindset responsible for turning many scattered sessions into great songs and unforgettable experiences.
Our community doesn't always get to see Kel in his element. His presence usually means there's something to be fixed, so his absence is a testament to how good he is at his job. If you do cross paths though, don't hesitate to pick his brain. His centered approach to business translates well to music as well as life in general.
